A defense cooperation agreement was signed between the Ministers of Cyprus and Italy, Fotis Fotiou and Mario Mauro respectively, during a meeting the Cypriot Minister had on Wednesday in Rome with his Italian counterpart.
According to a statement issued here today by the Ministry of Defence, the Agreement provides for the implementation, inter alia, of various joint programs between the armed forces of the two countries such as the sharing of expertise, information and carrying out joint exercises.
The two Ministers exchanged views on the issues to be discussed at the upcoming European Council in December 2013 during which issues related to the field of defense and security of the EU will be discussed.
