The three nations so far signed up to partner on the Future Combat Air System Technology Initiative (FCAS TI) have begun industrial discussions on developing a “world-leading” combat aviation capability. The prime companies from each of the nations – BAE Systems from the UK, Leonardo from Italy and Saab from Sweden – issued a joint statement on 22 July in which they noted that the framework would see the partners combine their expertise to collaborate in the development of the cutting-edge technologies required.
