Slovakia has selected the Patria 8×8 Armoured Modular Vehicle (AMV) XP, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Finnish company announced on 30 March.
The Slovak MoD said on its website that the government had mandated it to conclude a contract for the procurement of 76 AMV XPs with the Finnish government. The ministry valued the government-to-government agreement at EUR447 million (USD493 million) [...]. Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said the AMV XP would replace infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) that are at the end of their service life amid growing operational demands on the Slovak Armed Forces' readiness and would be intoperable with NATO systems, fulfilling allied commitments to create a heavy mechanised brigade.
