INDONESIA'S major Islamist political parties have found themselves in a difficult position since terrorism hit the nation's shores. Fighting from a significant but minority position, political parties wishing to bring about an Islamic republic in Indonesia know that they must unite if they are to pose any serious challenge to the secular forces that dominate the country's political scene.
