First Qatari Patriot deployed at base
A Patriot fire unit has been deployed for the first time at one of the sites being constructed for the air defence system in Qatar, Maxar satellite imagery shows.
Located to the immediate southwest of Al-Udeid Air Base, the site has been under construction since early 2018. The AN/MPQ-65 radar and four launchers appeared on their pads between 19-21 October, the satellite imagery shows. Four other Qatari Patriot sites have been identified by Jane's . One is about 15 km north of Al-Udeid, putting it in a better position to defend Doha from Iranian ballistic missiles. This base appears to include the headquarters building and command bunker for the new Qatari Emiri Air Defence Forces (QEADF). [...] The other sites protect the gas industry at Ras Laffan, the port of Mesaieed south of Doha, and the Al-Shamal Camp army base in the north of the emirate.
