Tehran, Jan 26 - Iranian navy has designed advanced gunboats and destroyers and missile launcher frigates in line with the goal of attaining self-sufficiency in the armed forces, navy officer in charge of technical affairs Ibrahim Azad-Nejadi said on Saturday.
He said that executive works on building the 350-ton missile launcher frigate 'Sina' will start in the next two months.
Azad-Nejadi said that the navy would launch the 1400-ton 'Mouj destroyer' by March 20, 2003.
Meanwhile, the officer said that the self-sufficiency department of the navy has also built three tug-boats which conforms with international standards and delivered them to the navy.
He said that the department has managed to repair every kind of vessels being used in navy operations in man-made lakes of 26,000 tonsand 17,000 tons water.
