Zitat:Accidentally fired missile into Pakistan due to tech glitch, says India. ‘It was BrahMos’
India Friday said malfunction in the ‘course of routine maintenance’ had caused missile to be launched into Pakistan Wednesday. Govt has ordered high-level court of enquiry.
New Delhi: India Friday confirmed that a missile had entered Pakistan from India Wednesday due to “accidental firing” caused by “a technical malfunction” in the “course of routine maintenance”. Sources said this was a BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. “On 9 March 2022, in the course of routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile. The Government of India has taken a serious view and ordered a high-level court of enquiry,” the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
The MoD added that the missile landed in an area of Pakistan.
“While the incident is deeply regrettable, it is also a matter of relief that there has been no loss of life due to the accident,” it said. Although the defence ministry did not clarify which missile it was, sources in the defence and security establishment said it was the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. [...] While Sirsa, Haryana — from where Pakistan claimed the missile was launched — does not have a BrahMos base, the missile system is operated from specialised trucks and can be moved from one location to the another. Such missile tests usually happen on the Eastern flank and from the Andaman and Nicobar Command.

Zitat:With 3500 Km Range, India To Strengthen & Modify Its Su-30MKI Fleet With BrahMos Supersonic Missiles
The Indian Air Force (IAF) will increase the number of Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighters that can carry the air-launched version of the BrahMos supersonic missile. According to reports, BrahMos would have a whopping range of 500 kilometers which can be increased up to 1500 kilometers, at par with the best US missiles.
As per the latest media reports citing sources in the Indian defense and security establishment, the IAF had approved plans to modify 40 Su-30MKIs to enable them to operate the BrahMos Air-launched Cruise Missile (ALCM). [...] The Brahmos missile increases the combat range of the Su-30MKI, enabling the IAF to strike targets at long distances. For example, as part of a test in 2020, a Su-30 armed with the air-launched version of the missile took off from a base in Punjab and struck a target in the Indian Ocean.
The target was struck deep in the Indian Ocean, approximately 4,000 kilometers away, which was considered ‘the longest’ mission of this kind.

Zitat:Philippine Personnel Completes BrahMos Anti-Ship Missile System Training
21 Philippine Navy personnel completed the "Operator Training" of the BrahMos Shore Based Anti-Ship Missile System in India. [...] The training that ran from 23 January to 11 February 2023 focused on the operations and maintenance of some of the most important logistics package of the SBASMS (Anm. von mir: Shore Based Anti-Ship Missile System) that will be delivered to the Philippines. [...] The training is a critical package included in the Philippine Navy Shore Based Anti-Ship Missile System Project Contract that was signed by the Philippines and India in 2022.
The said acquisition was viewed as a boost to the Philippine Navy’s capability to defend the country’s maritime borders and will further complement the efforts of the PN surface assets in patrolling the Philippine waters.

Zitat:Philippines Builds First BrahMos Anti-Ship Missile Base Facing South China Sea
From Western Luzon, Manila's new supersonic cruise missiles can hold adversaries at risk up to 290-300 kilometers away. [...]
Manila’s order of the Indian supersonic cruise missiles in 2022 marked a significant milestone in its defense modernization program that aimed to modernize the country’s outdated military amid regional disputes with China. Procured under the Philippine Navy’s Shore-Based Anti-Ship Missile Acquisition Project, the $375 million sale earmarked three batteries of BrahMos missiles and technical support for the system to the Philippine Marine Corps Coastal Defense Regiment. The purchase also marked the first international sale of New Delhi’s missile system, reportedly sparking more international interest in the system by countries in the region such as Vietnam and Indonesia.
