'Israel benefited Rafiq Hariri murder'

The former head of Israel's Military Intelligence says Israel benefited from the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq Hariri.

Major General Amos Yadlin said on Wednesday that Israel has been able to launch more than one project in Lebanon following Hariri's killing.

Berechtigte Frage, schliesslich haben wir schon einen Strang zu Geheimdiensten allgemein in einem anderen Unterforum:

Die Einordnung ist in der Tat nicht eindeutig. Einerseits kann man einen Geheimdienst als staatliche Verteidigunseinrichtung bzw. als eine Art Waffensystem sehen. Andererseits ist die traditionelle Aufgabe der Geheimdienste eben die Informationsbeschaffung, was wiederum Einfluss auf politische Entscheidungen einer Landesregierung hat.
Genausogut könnte man also den allgemeinen Strang über Geheimdienste in dieses Unterforum verschieben.
Da es sich bei dem Strang hier um ein länderspezifisches Thema handelt, kann er gut hier gelassen werden.

Von mir aus kannst du ihn ins Allgemeine verschieben, das bleibt sich gleich.

Was ist denn das wieder für ne bescheuerte Meldung.
Klare iranische Propaganda, keine andere Newsseite bringt eine derartige Aussage.

A military court in Lebanon has handed death sentences to three men who were found guilty of spying for the Israeli intelligence service, Mossad.

The three were convicted of giving sensitive information to Mossad, repeatedly entering Israel, and receiving special training there in order to learn how to use telecommunications and photography equipment to spy.

Also ob man der Thematik einen eigenen Thread zuordnen sollte, darüber kann man sicher diskutieren. Ich meine, ich finde es eh schon etwas übertrieben, wenn man hier im Forum gleich 3, 4 oder mehr Threads zum Thema Israel und Nahost findet, egal ob Israel, Israel-Palästina, Atomwaffen oder Spionage. Das Thema mag sicher wichtig sein, aber ich denke, da findet eine gewisse Überreizung statt. Vor allem auch, weil man damit der Versuchung erliegen kann, jeden einzelnen Thread in punkto anti-israelischer Stimmungsmache zu entführen, je nachdem wie die Stimmung gerade ist (was ja auch gerade hinsichtlich des Hariri-Mordes und einer angeblichen israelischen Verwicklung darin geschieht). Ich meine, ich kann es verstehen, wenn es zu Iran und dem iranischen Atomprogramm, das nun einmal ein eklatant wichtiges Thema ist, zwei separate Threads gibt, aber wenn nun noch einer (bspw.) über iranische Geheimdienste reingestellt werden würde (die auch durchaus ziemlich aktiv sind), so würde ich das Thema über Gebühr belastet sehen.

Insofern: Mein Vorschlag z. B. wäre, dass man dies in globalen Threads ansiedelt, d. h. in einem allgemeinen Geheimdienst-Thread (den es ja so auch schon gibt).

Abgesehen davon ist es auch nicht sinnvoll, hier krampfhaft eine israelische Connection in den Hariri-Mord hineinzuinterpretieren, vor allem schon mal nicht mit PressTV und anderen zweifelhaften Konsorten (vor allem auch, weil keine anderen Nachrichtenkanäle dies melden). Ich meine, ich kann es nachvollziehen, dass man dies versucht, weil die Hisbollah nämlich die eine oder andere Erklärungsnot hat (und noch bekommen wird) und dies dem Iran als Unterstützer und möglicherweise wiederum auch dem einen oder anderen "forumseigenen" Sympathisanten der Mullahkratie nicht sonderlich gefällt, aber gerade dann könnte (und sollte) man sich vielleicht ja mal um bessere und glaubwürdigere Quellen bemühen als um Propaganda-Sprachrohre und sich nicht ins/zum Werfen von Nebelkerzen verleiten lassen.

Vulture in Saudi Custody Suspected as Mossad Agent


Saudi Arabian security forces have captured a vulture that was carrying a global positioning satellite (GPS) transmitter and a ring etched with the words "Tel Aviv University." They suspect the bird of spying for Israel, Maariv-NRG reported Tuesday. The GPS and ring were connected to the bird as part of an long-term project by Israeli scientists that follows vultures' location and altitude for research purposes.

The arrest of the vulture - whose identification code is R65 - comes several weeks after an Egyptian official voiced the suspicion that a shark that attacked tourists off the Sinai shore was also acting on behalf of Mossad. The incidents may reflect a growing irrational hysteria among Arabs surrounding Israel's military prowess and the efficacy of its intelligence services, possibly fueled by the Stuxnet virus' success..
