Lebanon finds another Israeli spy device

The Lebanese army says its units have dismantled an advanced Israeli espionage and surveillance system near the southern city of Tyre.
The surveillance system, disguised as a rock, was planted in Shamaa village in southern Lebanon, the army said in a statement on Thursday, dpa reported.

It said that intelligence units of the resistance force Hezbollah located the device and informed the Lebanese army about it, who have dismantled it.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak, when asked to comment on the explosion, answered with the Hebrew phrase "כן ירבו" which translates roughly to "May there be many more."

Ya'alon hints at Israeli role in 'Flame' virus

In comments that could be construed as suggesting that Israel is behind the "Flame" virus, the latest piece of malicious software to attack Iranian computers, Vice Premier Moshe Ya'alon on Tuesday said that "whoever sees the Iranian threat as a serious threat would be likely to take different steps, including these, in order to hurt them."

Speaking in an interview with Army Radio, Ya'alon further hinted that Jerusalem was behind the cyber attack, saying "Israel is blessed to be a nation possessing superior technology. These achievements of ours open up all kinds of possibilities for us."
The virus, dubbed “Flame,” effectively turns every computer it infects into the ultimate spy. It can turn on PC microphones to record conversations taking place near the computer, take screenshots, log instant messaging chats, gather data files and remotely change settings on computers.
Security experts from the Russian Kaspersky Lab, who announced Flame’s discovery on Monday, said it is found in its highest concentration in Iranian computers. It can also be found in other Middle Eastern locations, including Israel, the West Bank, Syria and Sudan.
The virus has been active for as long as five years, as part of a sophisticated cyber warfare campaign, the experts said.

Iran detains suspects behind assassinations of nuclear scientists, report says

Semi-official Fars news agency cites Iranian Intelligence Ministry as reporting the arrest, withholding other details; Iran has accused Israel, U.S. of the killings.

Iran's security forces have arrested suspects linked to the assassinations of two nuclear scientists, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Thursday. According to the report, Iran's Intelligence Ministry indicated that the suspects were in detention, adding that the "details of the arrest will be made public after lapse of security precaution." Iranian officials indicated to Fars that those arrested were involved in the assassination of nuclear scientists Majid Shahriari, who was killed in late 2010 and Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, targeted earlier this year.

A Fars report from 2010 claimed that Shahriari was assassinated after a bomb was attached to his car by assassins on motorcycles, with Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najar accusing the U.S. and Israeli intelligence services of carrying out the attack.
