Zitat:John the Baptist's cave 'found'
A British archaeologist says he has found a cave used by the New Testament figure John the Baptist.
Shimon Gibson spent five years excavating the site near Jerusalem, unearthing objects apparently used in ancient purification rituals.

Images carved on the walls include that of a man with wild hair and carrying a staff, said to be reminiscent of John, whom the Bible says baptised Jesus.

Zitat:Archaeologists Find Purported Cave where John the Baptist Baptized Disciples

(CBN News) - Archaeologists say they have found a cave where they believe John the Baptist baptized his disciples.

The discovery was found on an Israeli farm just outside Jerusalem. The chamber has steps leading to an underground pool of water.
Some scholars say there is no proof that John the Baptist ever set foot in the cave, but archaeologists say shards from jugs and wall carvings in the cave are strong evidence that John was there.
If confirmed, the discovery would be one of the most significant breakthroughs for biblical scholars.
