"According to information published by Info Defensa on November 17, 2021, Spain aims to sell a second Navantia LHD amphibious assault ship to Turkey...."

Das passt ganz gut zum politischen Anspruch.

Zitat:Will Turkey Modify Its Future LHD To Carry More UAVs?

On January 31, Turkey's Presidency of Defence Industries, or SSB, published a new video announcing the defense industry's ambitions for 2022. The design of Turkey's prospective Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD), Anadolu, appears to have been modified in the footage to deploy more unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). [...]

"The Bayraktar TB3 UCAV, which can land and take off on ships with short runways, will take to the skies for the first time this year. The Bayraktar TB3 UCAV will thereafter be integrated into the Multi-Purpose Amphibious Assault Ship ANADOLU." (Ismail Demir, Head of SSB) [...] This is a foregone conclusion given that the Turkish government and Baykar firm declared the conversion of LHD Anadolu into a drone carrier. The rendering of Anadolu, on the other hand, sparked discussion regarding the size of the carrier’s runway and the number of drones on deck.

The future flagship of the Turkish Navy, the TCG Anadolu (L-400), was sighted in the Sea of Marmara on June 20, 2022, marking the official start of sea trials. The new ship LHD made another sailing in February 2022, but this was announced as a preliminary stage of sea trials. [...] TCG Anadolu has reportedly planned to be transformed to a drone carrier, after the U.S. broke the partnership with Turkiye on the F-35 JSF project. As a result, Baykar, a Turkish drone manufacturer, announced in early 2021 that it was working on a specific UCAV called TB-3, an improved and folding-wing version of the combat-proven TB2 drone that would be deployed aboard TCG Anadolu. [...] MIUS will be the second option, along with TB-3, for deploying airpower aboard the TCG Anadolu after it is potentially operational in 2025. MIUS will be deployed on the Anadolu as a light attack aircraft, although the unmanned combat aircraft is projected to conduct a multitude of military actions, such as strategic offensives, close air support (CAS), missile offensives, suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD) and destruction of enemy air defenses (DEAD), according to Baykar.

On the other hand, in terms of amphibious capabilities, the TCG Anadolu equipment is close to being operational. The armoured amphibious naval assault vehicle (MAV), abbreviated “ZAHA” (Zirhli Amfibi Hücum Araci), was unveiled during the Turkey-led EFES-2022 joint multinational amphibious exercise.

Zitat:Opinion: Should Turkiye Buy Type 23 Frigates?

Turkish media reported last week that the Turkish Ministry of Defense is in talks with its British counterparts regarding the procurement of Type 23 (Duke-class) frigates.

A local Turkish defense media outlet was the first to report the claims, stating that the Turkish Ministry of Defense (MoD) had reached an agreement with the UK to procure the aging Type 23 frigates. The new came as a surprise to many naval observers and commentators. [...] Middle East Eye (MEE) also claimed that a possible Type 23 deal would be part of a larger cooperation contract between Turkiye and the UK. [...]

According to the outlet, the two countries’ defense ministers met and discussed options for a large weapon procurement deal that would include Eurofighter jets, C-130J transport planes, Type 23 frigates, and engines for Turkey’s outdated M60 battle tanks. In this case, each Type 23 frigate would cost between 25 and 30 million pounds.
